INVENTORS:  Should you have a web page / web site?

That's a good question -- should you? If you have a product / invention that you want to sell or license, then you should have your own web PAGE or web SITE. To determine which, ask yourself these 2 questions:

1.   Are you trying to license your product(s) to a company?

If so, then you would benefit from having a web PAGE on an already established web site -- one that already has companies visiting it when they search for new products.

Put yourself in the position of a company that's looking for new products:  Which type of site would you rather visit when searching for new products -- a site that has HUNDREDS of new products on it, or a site that has only ONE new product on it?

This is why you get a web PAGE rather than a complete web SITE. Plus, it costs MUCH LESS to get a page on an existing site than it does to get your own web site, and you would have to promote your SITE heavily in order to attract a worthwhile amount of traffic. On the other hand, existing sites (such as this one) are already registered with search engines and have a track record.

2.   Do you have product(s) to sell at retail?

If so, then you would benefit more from a web SITE than a web PAGE. You would get your own domain name (such as www.widgets.com) and get set up with a merchant account so that your customers can order by credit card.

The following Frequently Asked Questions should give you a better idea of how you will benefit from having your own web page.

What's the difference between having my own site vs. listing my invention on the Market Launchers site?

Having your own site requires you to do the following ...

... by comparison, listing your invention on our site includes:

Can I list or advertise my invention on another site, in addition to MarketLaunchers.com?

Absolutely!

How is your web site promoted to companies who look for new products to license from outside inventors?

There are 2 main methods of promoting our web site's Invention Database:

  1. We link with other inventor-related web sites. These sites attract a lot of visitors to their web sites, which in turn leads to a lot of visitors to our web site. Take a look at our "Links" page to see who we're linked with.
  2. We submit it to the major search engines, such as Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc. We do this one at a time, as opposed to using software that offers to do it for you because we believe that submitting it to search engines one at a time is much more effective.

What do I receive when I list my invention on the Market Launchers site?

You receive a 1-year or 2-year listing, depending on which package you choose. In addition, each inventor also receives:

How is the Market Launchers site different from other sites that list inventions on the Internet?

There are several things that other sites do that we will NEVER do, such as:

Yet there are several benefits that we offer that most others don't, including:

What are my chances of having potential licensees contact me about my invention?  What percentage of inventions actually make it onto the market?

The best way to answer that is to answer the question, "What percentage of patented products ever produce a profit for the inventor?"

Approximately 2% of patented inventions ever produce a profit for the inventor. So the odds are against inventors, really.  If you've patented your product, then you've probably invested $4,000 - $6,000 of your money in a patent already. In that case, it's probably wise to try to market your invention.  Just be sure that you don't start throwing good money after bad.

Does my invention have to be patented or patent-pending in order to be listed on the Database?

It is recommended that you list only patented or patent-pending inventions. For inventions that are neither patented nor patent-pending, we would tell what your invention does without telling "how" it does it. TIP: You might want to apply for a provisional patent in this situation. A provisional patent gives you patent-pending status without the full expense of applying for a patent, and it buys you time (one year) to decide whether or not to apply for a patent. Always consult with a patent attorney first. Listing your invention on our web site means that you are offering it for sale. Once you offer it for sale, you have exactly one year in which to apply for a patent.

Are there any administrative fees involved when I purchase my own invention web page from Market Launchers?

No. Some companies charge an additional fee to set up a web page, but we do not charge any and we never will.

Are there any additional fees if and when I sell or license my invention?

No.

What if my product belongs in a second category? Is there an additional fee involved to list it in a second category?

If your product belongs in a second category, we’ll list it there at no extra charge.

What if I want to make some changes to my page later on?

It's real simple -- just call or e-mail us with the changes that you want. There's no fee for this.

Who can search the Database for new inventions?

Any company who visits our web site can search it for new inventions. They can then contact the inventor directly or contact us, and we'll give them the name and phone number of the inventor for the products that they're interested in. It is then between you and the licensee to negotiate a licensing agreement. We do not charge the licensing company because this would reduce the number of companies who search our site.

How do I go about listing my invention?

Listing your invention is easy – just fill out and return the order form along with your check or money order, and we’ll have your invention on the Internet within a day of receiving it. Personal checks are OK, and we do accept credit cards.

What kind of guarantee is there?

Nobody can guarantee that your invention will attract the attention of a licensee, no matter how much you promote it; however, we do offer the following guarantee:   If, at the end of the 12 months you aren’t satisfied with the response that you’ve received, then we’ll add another 4 months on to your listing -- for free. And you can be the judge on that. Please keep in mind, though, that there are some products that will not generate any interest because, for some products, there is just no market for them.  We don't try to judge which ones will generate interest -- that's something that each inventor should do before he/she patents the invention.

OK, I'm convinced. Now what does it cost to list my invention on the Market Launchers web site?

There are 3 options for purchasing your own web page:

If you select either of the first two options, then you can add any of the following "Gold" package items separately:

You can include a picture or two or three, at no extra cost. We'll return your pictures to you if you'd like.
