Six-Point Retention Trapeze Bar Holder:
The Six-Point Retention Trapeze Bar Holder is a two-part device combined into one unit to provide six different points of strength and retention to the trapeze bar. The device is first set over the top ridge of the headboard frame and then pressed by foot and leg pressure in order to slide the lower part of the device into place where the retention device is secured into place on the lower part of the headboard frame ridge. The Six-Point Retention Trapeze Bar Holder is then secured to the headboard by spring pressure. Hand-turned bolts are then tightened to secure the slide plates to the top and bottom of the headboard. Once the Six-Point Retention Trapeze Bar Holder is secured to the headboard, the trapeze bar is secured to the 6-point retention device by means of two securing locks. One lock located on the top portion of the rigid frame and one lock located at the bottom of the sliding frame.
So how is it different from the regular
trapeze bar holder that's been on the market forever?
First of all, the old type of trapeze bar holder sometimes collapses when the lower clamp comes loose after repeated use, causing it to fall off the head board. As a result, it falls right into the patient's lap.
The old kind also uses 2 separate apparatuses, with nothing
to hold them together. The Six-Point Retention Trapeze Bar
Holder, on the other hand, is a 2-part device combined into one unit with a top bracket and a
bottom bracket. For home health care, no one else makes them like this. This is
a D.M.E. (durable medical equipment) product for home patient care use – it is
NOT for hospital use.
The inventor, who is an EMT who works in home care, came up with the product after seeing a regular trapeze bar holder work itself loose from the bottom clamp on the headboard of the current system, due to repeated use. This made the system very unsafe for the patient. He tested the new and improved version on a 280-pound man and it held up (the weight did not deviate at all but it did bend the trapeze bar, substantiating the strength and security of the new holder).
The 3 main benefits are:
Improved patient safety, compared to the old kind.
Cost effectiveness compared to the old kind.
Ease of installation, compared to the old kind.
